The Known Universe by AMNH

Kind of puts Laestadius in perspective.

  1. LLLreader here: Real quiet around here lately--hope you all had a great holiday. Right now I have four friends fighting cancer. Am reminded again how unpredictable life can be, and how much we need to appreciate good health. Wishing everyone blessings in the year to come--God Bless

  2. Yes, it has been pretty quiet around here lately. I had a pretty good holiday, and hope you all did too! I'm sorry to hear about your four friends fighting cancer, I will keep them in my prayers.

  3. Hmmm...entertaining video, but I thought any connection to Laestadius was..well...nebulous at best! :-)

I hope everyone had a peace filled Christmas with family and friends, didn't get caught up in the commercialism hoopla, and was able to focus on the right things in life.

I hope all you have a fruitful and prosperous New Year. As I reflected on the past year with all of its turmoil, I realized that if anyone asked me whether I was better off than year ago, I would have to say yes. We have been abundantly blessed in so may ways -- a new grandson, good health, a relative stability in our lives. Any setbacks were minor in the grand scheme of things, and for the most part just involved "things" rather than anything of importance.

May the peace of Christ be with you all, remain in your hearts, and keep you in good stead all of the next year.

  4. I loved the video, Free. You are correct. It makes our lives on our little, fragile planet seem quite insignificant.

The video stirred something in me that brought me close to tears. It is beautiful.

  5. Does anyone know what's up with the OALC discussion board? I see it is now "by invitation only", and I found out I ain't apparently invited...

  6. LLLReader, so sorry to hear about your friends with cancer. Two friends in were diagnosed with cancer this fall. One of them died last week, leaving 3 daughters. Heartbreaking. Next week, I am joining some women to help cook dinners for a family whose child is fighting cancer. It helps, when feeling helpless, to cook something.

YM, thanks for helping break the quiet. Glad your holidays went well.

You too, Cvow, and while I love your word choice..."nebulous" is in the eye of the beholder, no? As fo the OALC site, it was plagued by spam, so I took it offline. Maybe a rest will cure it, as the Viagra ads are tiresome.

So glad you liked the video, Sisu. Hope your holidays were lovely. We visited Lummi Island on New Year's Day and saw our dear friends, two deer and a rainbow. They all brought tears to my eyes!

While we had a cozy Christmas, I had some momentary conflict over the fact that our kids, with little experience of their OALC relatives, had no desire for a holiday visit to them. They have been fairly neutral about such visits in the past, but are now strongly opposed. I suppose it has something to do with the awkwardness of making small talk with people who are easily offended, or for whom you serve as an annual curiosity.

So we visited friends instead, with whom they can be just themselves.

Life is so short, so fragile.

Hold your loved ones close. Let go when you need to let go.
