Who's that in a Huivi?

Arguably the most powerful woman in the world (or is it Oprah?), Nancy Pelosi covers up for the Lebanese. Nice huivi, eh? Just for the record, Pelosi is not a Laestadian but a (prochoice) Catholic.

  1. Pelosi may not be OALC but she is able to turn a blind eye to another enlightened group that regards women as first class citizens.

  2. Some say she's multiple choice.

  3. Re:Head Covering

For some reason it bugs me that a
    woman representing the beliefs of
the USA and all female reporters
wear head covering when in these
    muslim countries.

Is not that insulting your own
    belief system ?

  4. The Bible says, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."

  5. I believe they are required to wear head coverings in these countries. I'm not sure though?

They don't come here and remove their head coverings to please us. But they are not in free countries for the most part. I think free countries are more accepting of different cultures.

  6. In the Middle East and in most Muslim countries, women are required to wear head coverings. In the more fundamentalist Arab nations, women are also required to wear the Abayyah, which covers the person from top of head to the floor. The most extreme even wear a veil over the eye slit, so there is not so much as a quarter inch of the person showing.

The following of this custom is a requirement, not an option. If you don't like the rules, stay home. It's their country.

The more forward thinking countries such as the United Arab Emirates do not require the head covering, but they do ask that women dress modestly -- unless they are on designated beaches. Iran used to be one of those forward thinking countries until the Ayatollahs took power.

  7. Is that you Laura Bush?
